ABOUT MAKING ART

I have worked professionally in the field of dance since 2008. I have worked in many roles, as dancer, choreographer, teacher, mentor, producer, as a head of 1-year dance education program and festival organizer. At the moment I´m working on my own up-comping pieces and as a dancer at collegues pieces.

WHY DANCE?

For me dance is a place where you can remember and discover yourself and the world around you again and again. Making and experiencing art is a possibility to be in touch with the unknown that tends to get lost in the busyness of everyday life and its demands. Dance is possibility to get connected to the knowledge that has gathered, chained and piled up not just in one lifetime but in many. Knowledge, the unknown is stored and living somewhere in our bodies, our cells, our spirit. We are the result of continuous evolution and a part of universum-sized network of ecosystems. Facing the unknown can happen in many levels: it can open up subtle feelings in oneself or even hit us with understanding new perspectives about our connections between oneself, the environment, others and the whole universe. I see art touching the spiritual side of us human creatures, it is about finding diverse routs to connections between the universe around and in us. Art and especially dance brings deep perspective to our living and can be seen as a force of change. To me art is a place where human creatures are allowed to be angled, mysterious, beautiful, dangerous, powerful, week, clear, archaic, futuristic and everything else at the same time. As an artist I let myself to be sensitive to the unknown in me, to be able to sense the unknown in all of us. From that point I can bring up questions from the core of being a human in this world to be shared in my work.
